Rickie Fowler has never been one to shy away from bold fashion statements on the golf course. From his signature Sunday orange to flat-bill hats and head-to-toe monochromatic looks, the 36-year-old PGA Tour veteran has consistently pushed the boundaries of golf apparel. This time, Fowler made waves at the WM Phoenix Open by debuting an unexpected yet fitting ensemble: a full camouflage look from the newly launched Puma Golf x Realtree collection.
The Puma x Realtree collection merges golf with outdoor adventure culture, catering to golfers who also embrace activities like hiking, hunting, and fishing. Chris MacNeill, Puma Golf’s director of PLM Apparel & Accessories, explained the inspiration behind the collaboration:
"The collection was born out of a desire to celebrate the love golfers have for outdoor adventures, just like hikers, campers, hunters, fishermen, and others who feel more alive than ever when they spend time in nature. We're also seeing camo patterns like Realtree transcending just the outdoor industry and becoming popular in sport, culture, and fashion. We have the perfect athlete in Rickie to make a bold statement on the course, so it was a natural fit to bring this camo into golf."
Realtree, a brand known for its hunting apparel, has previously collaborated with major names in the fashion world, including Nike, Crocs, and Guess. Its partnership with Puma Golf represents a continued crossover of outdoor lifestyle aesthetics into mainstream fashion.
For his first round at TPC Scottsdale, Fowler sported the Deep Forest camo polo and matching golf pants, completing the look with a 5-panel golf cap, polarized sunglasses, a black belt, and white Puma Golf shoes. While camo is traditionally associated with blending into nature, Fowler’s presence on the course was anything but subtle.
Known for its rowdy crowd and party-like atmosphere, the WM Phoenix Open served as the perfect stage for such an eye-catching outfit. As MacNeill pointed out:
"WM is one of the most relaxed and fun tournaments on the calendar—it's also one of the most watched and attended. We felt like it was a great mix of attention and atmosphere to make a statement in a place where golf is at its loudest."
With the iconic stadium-style seating surrounding the par-3 16th hole, Fowler’s camo look was bound to get a reaction from the energized fans, many of whom will have been celebrating for hours by the time he arrived at the tee box.
Fowler’s embrace of camouflage and outdoor themes is not an isolated case among PGA Tour professionals. Several golfers have strong ties to hunting and outdoor sports. Brian Harman’s love for hunting became a focal point after his 2023 Open Championship victory, and Chandler Phillips has often stated he would rather be duck hunting than playing golf.
Fowler’s affinity for outdoor adventure makes him a natural fit for this collaboration. Since turning pro in 2009, he has remained a loyal ambassador for Puma Golf, frequently showcasing the brand’s willingness to innovate and push the traditional limits of golf fashion.
The Puma x Realtree collection, officially launched on February 3, features an extensive lineup of apparel designed to blend golf performance with outdoor-inspired style. The collection includes:
According to Puma, the collection combines Realtree’s iconic camo patterns with Puma’s performance-driven golf technology, ensuring that golfers don’t have to choose between style and function.Fowler’s 2025 Season So FarFowler’s appearance at the WM Phoenix Open marks his third start of the 2025 season, following a T21 finish at The American Express and T53 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
