Blue Jays Bounce Back with 8-2 Win Over Orioles

The Blue Jays flipped the script from Opening Day, delivering an offensive showcase of their own in an 8-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

Early on, it seemed like history might repeat itself. Just two days after the Orioles blasted six home runs in a dominant season opener, Baltimore took a 2-0 lead. In the third inning, Jackson Holliday launched his first homer of the season off former Oriole Kevin Gausman. An inning later, Tyler O’Neill’s sacrifice fly added another run, putting Baltimore in control.

Orioles starter Charlie Morton navigated some early baserunners but avoided damage—that is, until the bottom of the fourth. Three straight singles from Alejandro Kirk, George Springer, and Will Wagner loaded the bases with no outs. A bases-loaded walk put Toronto on the board. Despite putting in Albert Suarez for Morton to try to limit the damage, the Jays exploded for five runs.

With a newfound lead, Gausman settled in, cruising through six innings while allowing just the two early runs. Toronto tacked on three more insurance runs, sealing an emphatic 8-2 win and avenging their Opening Day defeat.
