The first game was an offensive showcase for Ohio State, starting strong with two three-run homers in the very first inning, creating an early 6-0 lead. This initial burst of energy was sustained throughout the game, culminating in a Tegan Cortelletti single that sealed a 16-8 win. The Buckeyes’ batting was particularly potent, racking up eight extra-base hits, including triples and home runs, which overwhelmed Penn State’s pitching early on.
Key players such as McKenzie Bump and Sam Hackenbracht were instrumental, with Bump going 3-for-4 including a home run, and Hackenbracht adding to her impressive career home run tally. Kirsten Eppele was the standout, hitting a home run, a triple, and a double, contributing five RBIs and scoring three runs.

The second game was a tighter affair, with Ohio State trailing until the sixth inning. Eppele's crucial single tied the game, setting the stage for a dramatic seventh inning where Kortokrax’s walk-off double clinched the victory. This came after a tense moment when a potential winning run was thrown out at home plate, adding to the game's drama.
Ohio State pitcher Emily Ruck delivered an impressive performance, striking out five and walking two in her third complete game of the season. Her counterpart, Bridget Nemeth, despite a strong season, struggled against Ohio State’s aggressive hitting.
The day's action ended with Kortokrax’s standout performance, her walk-off double marking a high point in a 3-for-4 game that included two doubles.
Looking ahead, Ohio State is set to host Pittsburgh at Buckeye Field. The upcoming game will also feature the first-ever "Bark at the Park" event, inviting fans to enjoy the game alongside their dogs, with tickets available for both pets and their owners.
