The third quarter proved challenging for Miami, as App State capitalized on an offensive stall to extend their lead to 13-3 with a nine-yard rushing touchdown by Joey Aguilar.
Miami fought back in the third quarter, with Amos capitalizing on an App State turnover to score a 23-yard touchdown. However, an unsuccessful extra point attempt left the RedHawks trailing 13-9. Rashad Amos had a standout performance, not only securing a career-high 180 rushing yards and a touchdown in the game but also achieving a historic milestone with the first 1,000-yard rushing season for a RedHawk since 2005. Amos broke multiple records, including the Miami bowl record for rush attempts (33) and rushing yards in a bowl game.
